Being the first building on site and the meeting place of such great political figures as Adenauer, Kohl, Kennedy, Nixon and Elisabeth II. of England, the history of Königshof deserves special attention.
“With just the right amount of intuition for stylistic circumstances and modern elegance, the Berlin Interior Designer FINE ROOMS recreated a German restaurant institution.” DECO Home 01/2015
True to their responsibility and adhering to the mid-century style, FINE ROOMS refurbished the house on the shore of the Rhine with great dedication, curating the art in analogy to the custom-designed furniture. The works radiate with a remarkable brilliance of colours and a special kind of humour characteristic for the sense of departure and a recurring zest for life. Caricatural portraits in the style of Jean Cocteau’s works and retro-collages by Albert Buhs combined with colourful glass vases and lampshades make beautiful accents to the soft colours of the wall and fabric.
The oil paintings by Robert Keil and paper collages in the style of the 60ies give Restaurant Oliveto, that was awarded 14 Gault Millau points, unique charm. The wallpaper, designed by FINE ROOMS in the graphic style of the 50ies received the “Finest Interior Award Special 2015” in the category “Wall decoration with Wallpaper”. The room-high triptych portrays a summer scene in gentle shades, continuing the 180 degree panorama view of the Rhine.
In the rooms, the original linocuts, the photo overpaintings and the sketches by various artist complete the harmonious design of the hotel. Striking photo overpaintings, pen-and-ink drawings and graphics make the guest immerge into distant worlds.
